Sam Newton grew up in Birmingham and trained at the Central School of Speech & Drama.

Recent stage work includes his acclaimed performance as Hen in Zoe Cooper’s reimagining of Northanger Abbey (2024, Orange Tree Theatre/UK Tour), and A Woman Walks Into a Bank by Roxy Cook (Theatre503). Other notable theatre credits include Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (West End, UK & International Tour), Big Big Sky by Tom Wells (Hampstead Theatre), Nigel in Nigel Slater’s Toast (Lowry/Traverse), and Frantic Assembly’s Sometimes Thinking at the National Theatre’s River Stage.

Sam has also taken part in development readings at Hampstead Theatre (My Strong Intent and Flamingos, 2025).
