InterTalent relaunches Comedy Division

InterTalent has added clients including Patrick Kielty and Cally Beaton as it returns to comedy, five years since it stepped away from the genre.

Hannah Layton, who currently runs comedy talent agency Hannah Layton Management, joins the company as head of comedy.

InterTalent has acquired her company and client roster, which also includes Beardyman, Jen Ives, Njambi McGrath and Shazia Mirza.

InterTalent’s expansion into comedy has been overseen by managing director Alex Segal, who has introduced digital and Esports & gaming divisions since his appointment in 2020.

The agency’s other clients are divided into scripted, unscripted and music and include Boy George, Joan Collins, Nicola Adams, Shirley Ballas, Ross Kemp and Eamonn Holmes alongside some comedy-focused talent including Omid Djalili, Anim, Donna Preston and digital creators Ash Holme, Hayley Morris and Tom Trotter.

Layton had previously worked with Segal at scripted talent agency ARG in 2009, before she departed to set up her agency.

InterTalent used to have a comedy division featuring clients such as Micky Flanagan prior to the departure of previous comedy head Christian Knowles in 2018.

“Returning to comedy is the natural next move in the evolution of InterTalent,” said Segal. “With an ever-expanding footprint in scripted, unscripted and digital, the re-introduction of comedy fits perfectly into all our businesses. I’ve known Hannah for 15 years, which means we start with a strong, mutual understanding of the goals and ambitions of the company.”

Layton added: “With the landscape transforming at a rapid rate it feels like a perfect time to align with InterTalent. The company’s forward-thinking approach, combined with its 360 offering and likeminded commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients, makes it an exciting move and an obvious next step.”
