Simon Trinder

Simon is from Bolton and graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2000. Upon graduation he won the BBC Carlton Hobbs radio bursary award and subsequently appeared in over 50 plays for radio 4 and the World Service before going on to work at the Royal Court, Hampstead Theatre, Young Vic, Barbican and Bristol Old Vic.

He was the first actor to play Puck at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in Mike Alfreds acclaimed 2001 production of A Midsummer Nights Dream and later played Puck for both Benjamin Britten’s Dream for the Hamburg State Opera and on television for the BBC documentary, In Search Of Shakespeare. Simon works regularly with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has performed in 12 plays with them worldwide. RSC highlights include the critically acclaimed Spanish Golden Age season, The Taming of the Shrew, Measure for Measure and Cymbeline. During his time with the company he won the Clarence Derwent Award and was nominated for the Helen Hayes award in the USA. Simon played Caliban to Pete Postlethwaite’s Prospero in The Tempest at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre in 2007 and most recently played Orestes / Aegisthus in the Oresteia at Manchester’s HOME.

This year Simon has played series regulars in Wolfblood and Ordinary Lies 2 both for the BBC. Other television and film credits include Holby, Dalziel and Pascoe, In Search of Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov’s The Duel, In The Dark Half and ITV drama premiere’s The Children and Without You. He appeared in the critically acclaimed BBC Hollow Crown series in Richard 2nd and plays DS Bliss in ITV’s brand new supernatural drama series Midwinter Of The Spirit with Anna Maxwell Martin and David Threlfall.

Simon is founder and Principal of ICAT which has drama schools in Manchester and London.
