Preeya Kalidas is a versatile actress, singer, presenter and writer who has starred on stage and screen.

She originated the lead role of Priya in AR Rahman’s/Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Bombay Dreams. Other West End credits include The Narrator in the revival of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Adelphi Theatre and the original London productions of School of Rock and Everybody’s Talking about Jamie. Preeya originated the role of Pinky in Bend it like Beckham the Musical, for which she was nominated for a prestigious Olivier Award.

Preeya has also played leading roles in plays including Margo in The Good Life based on the iconic TV series (Chichester), Oxford Street (Royal Court Theatre), Khandan (Birmingham Rep/Royal Court ) and most recently opposite Juliette Stevenson in Robert Icke’s The Doctor (Duke of York Theatre/Park Amory, New York).

Television credits include BBC’s Eastenders as a series regular Amira, BAFTA nominated BBC Three Bollywood Carmen as Carmen, Peter Kosminsky’s BAFTA award winning C4 drama Britz, BBC’s Mistresses and Jed Mercurio’s BBC Series Bodies. Preeya has starred in Award winning feature films including Four Lions, Bend it like Beckham and The Three Musketeers.

As a writer, Preeya co–wrote book/music/lyrics and starred in musical Out the Box, which was chosen to be part of the MT festival at the Turbine Theatre. She is currently developing a three-part short film trilogy with Keale Productions, and has written a one woman play with songs, with title song produced by Naughtyboy (Beyonce /Emelie Sande) and Blazin Beats.

She also co-wrote a song with producers Naughtyboy and Nitin Sawhney for British film “What’s love got to do with it” starring Emma Thompson and Lily James, and toured and collaborated with Mercury Award winning Skepta.

Preeya has presented her own regular daytime weekend radio show for five years on BBC Asian Network, and has hosted the OJ borj show on BBC Radio 2.
