Mist

There is no disputing Mist’s status in the UK music scene: he’s scorched the streets with gritty rap storytelling, nailed the grime scene with reload-heavy bangers, and even soundtracked his share of Marbella pool parties. It doesn’t matter what mode he’s in — Mist, 29, makes it his mission to be the best. All of that is well documented, but what’s great about the man born Rhys Sylvester is that he did it all in five years, and he’s only just getting started.

Mist is the Host of BBC3 hit series, ‘Gassed Up’ and Channel 4’s ‘Driven’.

Raised by his “strict” but loving Trinidadian father and Vincentian mother, Mist’s Birmingham home was based around a cross-generational love of music. In 2015 and Mist linked up with Birmingham grime/rap platform P110, who had heard some of his bars and encouraged him to record a freestyle. Mist soon agreed and ended up recording one of the channel’s most celebrated freestyles to date, currently sitting at over 20 million views on YouTube. Skip to 2021 and Mist recorded Part 2 of this 1Take freestyle, increasing hype having already amassed 3.5 million views.

After dropping his 2016 EP, M I S to the T, the rapper has since had a number of Top 40 singles, as well as a Top 5 project in Diamond In The Dirt, with over 500,000,000 total streams to his name. With nods from Stormzy, Nines & SBTV founder Jamal Edwards, and recent collaborations with fellow Brummie Mowgs and NSG, Mist is making huge waves and there’s no sign of this slowing down.
