Karen Hauer is a Venezuelan-born, New York-raised professional dancer, best known as the longest-serving female professional on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, where she starred for 14 years and reached the final on multiple occasions.

Celebrated for her magnetic stage presence and expressive artistry, Karen brings a rare depth to performance. Her movement is both powerful and precise, combining technical mastery with an instinctive sense of storytelling that captivates audiences across stage and screen.

Her training began with a full scholarship at the prestigious Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, followed by study at New York’s High School of Performing Arts, where she specialised in ballet and contemporary dance and was awarded the Helen Tamaris Award for Excellence in Dance.

A distinguished performer on the international stage, Karen was crowned World Mambo Champion in 2008 and reached the finals of So You Think You Can Dance USA, showcasing versatility across jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom and Latin styles. Her career has included performances alongside global icon Jennifer Lopez, as well as a principal role in the original Broadway cast of Burn The Floor, touring extensively across the USA, Europe, Asia, Australasia and South Africa.

In 2022 Karen created and starred in her own production, Firedance, a high-energy theatrical production which returned in 2023 as Firedance Reignite, expanded with even greater intensity and scale. In 2025 she co-produced and starred in Speakeasy, an immersive dance production blending vintage glamour, nightlife culture and cinematic storytelling.

Karen’s screen accolades include dancing in Wicked The Movie, 2024 and choreography and performing in Nick Winston’s Tomorrow Morning, 2022. Karen is also a much loved contributor to RuPaul’s Drag Race and other creative endeavours across TV and film.

Alongside her performance career, Karen is a certified personal trainer and the creator of Hauer Power, a fitness platform designed to inspire strength, discipline and confidence through movement.
